Dormouse Adventure Park

STORY

When his roistering attic parties get just a bit too noisy, the roistering dormouse, an incredibly swift and cheerful creature, gets chased away from his home in the attic of a mansion. Looking for a new home, he gets to know different animals and has a host of interesting experiences.

The story is based on The Roistering Dormouse picture book, written by Uroš Grilc and illustrated by Maša Kozjek. Children familiar with the story will be better equipped for the adventure in the Dormouse Adventure Park.

EXPERIENCE

Roistering dormouse needs your help! He was banished from the attic of the Polhov Gradec Mansion for being a little too noisy, and now he is searching for a new home in the nearby forest. Help roistering dormouse by setting off with him to the Dormouse Adventure Park – a fairytale land of thousands of flowers and interesting animals. See a family of bees, a “royal” flower, visit the animal “post office,” climb up to the observation point, peek inside a badger's burrow ... The Polhov Gradec Dormouse Adventure Park is designed for adventure through a blend of the fairytale and real world, which encourages children to be active outdoors and, in a playful way, teaches them about the nature and culture of Polhov Gradec, while encouraging their imaginations and creativity. While visiting Dormouse Adventure Park don’t miss the Museum of Post and Telecommunications. What a superb adventure for all the family!

Experience is also available English and Italian language.Likewise, picturebook is also translated in English and Italian language.

WHAT

From the Polhov Gradec Mansion Park, the trail climbs past the Beekeeper’s Home and runs along the edge of Mount Polhov Gradec, following the Blagaj Trail, which belongs to the Polhov Gradec Hills Landscape Park. Winding along the edge of the forest, the path loops back into the Mansion Park. It is technically easy and therefore suitable for the youngest hikers. It can be completed in just 45 minutes, but the points of interest along the way are rich enough to easily keep the little explorers busy for a good two hours.

WHO

Dormouse Adventure Park is designed for preschool children and children from 1st through 3rd grades of elementary school. The trail starts and ends at the Polhov Gradec Mansion, and is easily accessible. Various adventure stops along the way will easily keep the children occupied for about two hours, if not more. For a wholesome experience, we recommend reading the story The Roistering Dormouse in English and Italianprior to the visit.

HOW

Na začetku poti otroci ob vstopnici po dostopni ceni 7,00 EUR prejmejo The Dormouse Activity Book for just 5 Euros. While walking, they keep busy by placing stickers on the map which are found in the aforementioned book, collecting stamps and tackling various tasks. Along the way they are greeted by ten big wooden sculptures, small wooden cottages, a child-friendly beehive, an animal post office, a badger’s burrow, a badger’s sett, didactic materials … A special surprise awaits at the finish line for having collected all the stamps and stickers.

Dormouse Adventure Park lahko obiščete samostojno, saj vam Dormouse Notebook omogoča vsa doživetja na poti. Za vodeni ogled parka so ob posebnih dogodkih ali po naročilu na voljo za to posebej usposobljeni interpretativni vodniki-pripovedovalci, ki poskrbijo za organizirane obiske skupin, rojstne dneve, obiske šol, vrtcev, skupin počitniškega varstva, itd.

Učitelji lahko bogat razpon vsebin, ki jih ponuja Polhov doživljajski park (gozdne živali, rastline, graščina, grof, voda, ekologija, čebelarstvo, pohodništvo), učencem prezentirajo nivojsko glede na starostno skupino ali jih povezujejo z sorodnimi vsebinami učnega načrta. Pred obiskom je učiteljem na voljo zgodba iz slikanice in English and Italian, po obisku pa so učiteljem na voljo vsebine iz Polhove knjižice (križanka, risanje, dodatne vsebine), ki služijo refleksiji doživetih vsebin in podoživljanju vedenja, ki so ga otroci osvojil na poti v Polhovem doživljajskem parku. Na voljo je tudi uglasbena pravljica Polh rogovilež na CD-ju Dve škratji in ena polšja.

Pomembni napotki pred obiskom

Če otroci pred obiskom poznajo zgodbo o Polhu rogoviležu, bodo toliko močneje doživeli Dormouse Adventure Park. Zato vam to toplo priporočamo.

– Parkiranje avtobusa je mogoče pri Polhograjski graščini.

– Dostop: iz Ljubljane lahko do Polhovega doživljajskega parka pridete z LPP linijo, avtobusom št. 51.

– Pot je nezahtevna, v največjem delu poteka v senci v gozdu, otroci pa naj imajo obute športne čevlje ali lažjo pohodno obutev, tudi po dežju se pot hitro suši, saj je odlično uhojena.

– Šola ali vrtec mora poskrbeti za zadostno število spremljevalcev otrok, ki bodo skrbeli za splošno za varnost otrok v času obiska.

Dostop in vstopnice

Krožna pot se prične pri Polhograjski graščini (Polhov Gradec 61, 1355 Polhov Gradec) in tam tudi konča, parkiranje je urejeno.
